  • I left my heart in Italy…

    Italy, Italy,

    The whole day through
    Just an old sweet song
    Keeps Italy on my mind

(my take on Ray Charles’ song…different, more exotic locale…)

I’ve had the strongest desire to return to Italy.  I went 2 years ago and spent about a week on the Island of Sardegna and specifically I stayed in Cagliari.

It was an eye opening experience.  I had never flown past Hawaii and that was in my youth.  I’ve always had the desire to travel and explore new worlds and I would be flying off to a new destination every time the moment struck me, had I not had children and been grounded by life, responsibility, and lack of resources.

That will not be my story forever – believe you me…

My favorite type of vacation is one where I spend time on a beach.  There is a serenity there like no other.  It really doesn’t matter to me where although I prefer warmer beach weather.

My ideal retirement location is a small beach cottage steps away from the beach – be it sunny southern California, Hawaii, France, Italy, Greece…

That’s where my friends, family, and loved ones will find me.

My friend Irene and I are talking about the dream of travel, but I just learned something new about her.  Yes…after knowing someone for 29 years you can still learn more about them…

She is afraid of flying.  We both are afraid of heights…that’s why I say that I know that’s why God made us both short.  So we are going to have to conquer that fear so the travel dreams can become a reality (it would help if we had conquer money $$$ or else we won’t leave our local airport bar).

I was speaking with a younger friend of mine who spoke about fears and challenges.  I opened her eyes to the possibility that she has the freedom to go anywhere she wants to.  She has no ties to hold her to a specific geographic location and she could travel the world and start over wherever she wanted.  What a wonderful opportunity to seize!

My dreams tonight will be filled with new adventures in far away lands…It’s only a matter of time…

So in alignment with this evening’s theme…we are enjoying her newly developed tropical drink which is called…”California Fresh Fruit Fizz” which consists of fresh cut fruit with Parrot Bay Orange Pinapple.

Can we say…”YUMMMMMMM!”  (and if our pastor or her husband calls…we’re having a fresh fruit smoothie!)

  • that’s it. that’s the life.

  • Ah yes, Italy is wonderful. I’ve been a few times, but not here lately. San Remo is a wonderful place. It’s along the coast. It’s big distinction is that a lot of folks who want to gamble in the Monte Carlo casinos stay there because Monaco is so expensive to stay. (Average of $500 to $1,000 a night!) They can stay in San Remo and daytrip to Monaco. Sweet deal!
